I had way too much fun (i.e. took way too long) putting this together for Caelen's upcoming 8th birthday. I'm always feel like I'm in a rush for poor Caelen's birthday as I'm pretty burned out on cards from Christmas:) This was fun though because it is totally different from anything I've done before. It will be printed on pearl paper on the ornate edged 4x8 card. I told her when she was complaining about getting dressed for the session that she was pretty lucky to get to have it at Disney World! Kids...meanwhile I'm in denial about the fact that I am about to have an 8 year old; ugh.

Attention Friends! I will no longer shop at Sears and you should not either! My 3 year old $750 washer has given out, and I was quoted $1175 by Sears to repair it! Check out a few seconds of my video of what it's doing. Sears will do nothing for me. They only care about the bottom line. No wonder they are having to lay off employees and close stores. Operation Christmas Child

“If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:17-18

I am so excited to again get to participate in Operation Christmas Child. This project, sponsored by Samaritan's Purse, encourages the giving of shoe box sized gifts for Christmas which will be sent to needy children all over the world. For such a small amount of money and time you can change the life of a child while teaching yours the true meaning of Christmas. Please participate with your children!

Feel free to join us this Sunday at noon at Family of Faith church, 10748 Perkins Road, for lunch and a shoebox stuffing party. Follow the link below for tips on what to put in your box, an easy pay option for the $7 per box suggested shipping donation and a list of other locations in town for dropoff if you like. We like to put our items in a plastic shoebox sized bin for the child to reuse. We fill it with candy, toys, a toothbrush and toothpaste, sox or underwear, art supplies, etc along with a photo of the child who sent it. We will have gift wrap, labels, etc to help prepare the boxes. I will be glad to pick up a box from you also if that is convenient.

Guatemala Mission Trip

Some folks from my church and I will be headed to Guatemala City in February to continue our partnership with Christ is the Way Church and Pastor Saoul. The people of this community are impoverished, scrounging in the landfill for recyclables to sell. May have dirt/mud floors, walls and roofs of scrap cardboard and nylon and no cooking equipment.

Brad and I are training to run a marathon in January and thought this would be a fun way to raise money and awareness for our Guatemala church partnership and mission trip in February.

We who are blessed with so much have been called to act for those who have so little. Through these kind acts the people’s hearts are opened to Pastor Saoul’s message of the gospel. Here are some ways you can help to forever change a life of one of your brothers or sisters in Christ:

$125 will provide a stove which will save a family from breathing problems the smoke of the fire causes.

$500 will provide a safe, clean concrete floor instead of the dirt and mud they currently have.

$400 will provide wood and lamina to give them a real structure to be protected by.

If these are not an option for you, consider doing what you can and praying. One could sponsor us per mile, $26.2, $52.4, etc. All funds will go fully to the above needs.

My Baby is turning 2!

I am so excited to receive in this card! I always like to try a new product before I sell it, but I know this will be a big hit. These high end cards are letterpress where the ink is pressed into 118# premium cotton paper, giving it dimension and texture. This has previously only been available at fine stationery shops, so I've never been able to offer it before. It is so elegant! Meanwhile, my baby girl is turning 2. Crazy. She is a strong willed tornado. Thank goodness she's cute...

Just when you think Hollydays, Junior League of Baton Rouge's annual holiday shopping fundraiser, can't get any better, it does. I've been telling everyone I know that next year they must attend the preview gala on the Wednesday night before general admission begins with me. I was blown away that literally every great restaurant that Baton Rouge has to offer was represented, from Juban's, Mansur's, Sullivan's, Le Creole', Stroube's, Ruffino's, Couyon's, Mestizo, Brewbacher's, Zoe's Kitchen Perkins Rowe, Texas de Brazil, Thee Heavenly Donut, Sweet Impressions to Brew Ha Ha. It was so much fun. The vendors were out of this world too. And the band, The Deloreans, an 80's cover band, was hysterical. Everyone was so nice and excited about their products. One has got to love the unique dynamic that is a sibling relationship. Having grown up an only child and then now being a mother of 3, I especially enjoy viewing this dynamic in action during my sessions. Younger siblings want so badly to BE their big brother or sister, and often the bigger sibling wants nothing to do him or her. But deep down we know they all love each other, and this is a precious bond that will be there all their lives. These sweet boys are no different. Poor Hayden did not want to hold baby brother Davis' hand, but eventually we made him forget how uncool that is and got some great expressions and interactions. I hope you enjoy!

Aack how stinkin' adorable is this kid?! I love love love 9 month olds so much. I wish we could keep them this age. What a sweet boy Hayes is. And I love getting to catch up with proud parents Jim and Stacy. Jim and Stacy chose to do the kids' club which meant Stacy got a free maternity session, I came to her for Hayes' newborn session, and all of her sessions are almost 1/2 price. I had so much fun photographing Lace + Shane's wedding! Lace really wanted her ceremony outside at White Oak Plantation, but it started raining right beforehand. We waited 10 minutes and voila...it passed long enough for the ceremony and then started up again. What luck! Lace's elegant dress is from Alfred Angelo, the striking flowers from The Flower Cottage, the stylish cake from Sugar Rush, and the fun music that had even the grandmothers jamming from X-Pert DJ. Cooper, Lace + Shane's son, was born the day before my Corinne, so I really enjoyed watching him celebrate!

And what a beautiful name too! Mom Samantha was so great about scheduling her newborn session just a few days after Irelynn's birth so we could get her in her best form. I came to her since she couldn't ride in a car yet. I brought a few props but mostly worked with things Samantha had: a big pretty pink and white basket, a special blanket and cap, etc. We allowed about 2 hours to complete this newborn session. Brad & I had the opportunity to go to Colorado to celebrate our 10th Anniversary. My wonderful family friends & customers Dr. & Mrs. Robert Schutte so hospitably allowed us to stay in their family cabin which is right next to Rocky Mountain National Park. What a treat! We were able to do alot of hiking & sightseeing & read some wonderful books. I sound like an old lady, but it was awesome. Thanks also to "Grammie & Papaw" and "Nana & Granpa" for taking such good care of the kiddos while we were gone!

I met up with Danielle at the Hilton Capitol Center Hotel Downtown Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After she finished getting dressed I headed over to St. Joseph's Cathedral to meet up with David and the guys. St. Joseph's always makes such a beautiful backdrop, & it was nice seeing Judy again. After the ceremony we headed over to Boudreaux's for the usual fabulous food and some fun music by Blake from Complete Music. Tina of Verde Beauty had the Danielle and the girls sparkling all night. I've finally decided to just go ahead & post on the old blog as, well, let's be honest here...the new blog won't be ready for a while:) I'm doing good to get the new website almost done & get my new computer set up. This is so weird! We are having a baby any day now, & I feel so ill-prepared. How can one feel this way over such a big event? How could one not? I've loved not finding out the sex until about a month ago. This picking two names, not getting anything pink or blue & not knowing whose room to put this kid in has been tough! I know we will appreciate it at the birth when we are totally suprised & Caelen & Cohen can make the announcement.

On another note...the words "thank you" cannot express the gratitude I feel to Mike Landry & his son Michael for coming to Darlene & James' wedding last night to help me in my "state". When I found out I was pregnant, I first of course told Brad, then called my bride Darlene whose wedding was to take place 8 days before my due date, & then called Landry Photography. I couldn't bear the thought of not taking the best care of my bride that I could in the case that I could not be there! I immediately thought of Mike & Michael to fill in for me in need be, not only because of their extraordinary talent & devotion to photography but because of our mutual Christian faith & what amazing quality of people they are. They showed up, worked their tails off, putting forth no less effort than if they were photographing their own very best client, & then refused for me to pay them. I am amazed at their selflessness & integrity. I am inspired! Needless to say , I am determined to return the favor.

I've been meaning to post these for a while. The first 2 are "rep cards", business card sized, front & back & can be printed on pearl, watercolor, linen or regular paper. I did Caelen's & Cohen's in pearl & made them mainly to affix to gifts they give, (or to give their digits to cute little girls & boys they meet at the playground...ha!) The last image is of a save the date magnet I did for Nikki & Blake, one of my wedding couples. We printed it on metallic paper, & it came out pretty cool.

Good Easter Idea

Brad (my husband) had what I think is a great Easter idea. He suggested we do the "Easter bunny" stuff tomorrow, Saturday, like the egg hunt & Easter baskets, & focus on Jesus for Easter Sunday. We've been really trying to, just like with Christmas, bring the focus back to Him at every opportunity while still allowing the kids to experience egg hunts & other such fun. Since we go to church at 9am & Haven at 11am on Sunday mornings & then to the grandparents' for lunch, we won't have much time for Easter bunny tomfoolery. So, tonight at dinner, I told Caelen & Cohen that I heard a rumor that the Easter bunny might come tomorrow. She said, "What's a rumor?" I thought for a moment & said, "Like..." at which point she cut me off to say, "What's like mean?" At which point I felt bogged down. So anyway I think the idea has merit. What do you think?
